Melitta Amano Dripper: An Elegant Immersion Brewing Device

In this article, we’ll take a look at the latest dripper from Melitta, the Melitta Amano dripper. Melitta is a German company known for selling coffee, paper filters, and coffee makers. It is part of the Melitta Group, which operates branches in several other countries. The company is headquartered in Minden, North Rhine-Westphalia.

At first glance, the design of the Melitta Amano Dripper might remind you of the Gina Smart Dripper. This dripper features a knob that can be opened and closed to control the flow of brewed coffee. Its functionality also bears similarities to the Clever Dripper, which focuses on the immersion brewing method, allowing coffee to steep for a longer time compared to a V60 or other pour-over drippers.

One key difference is that the Melitta Amano has two drainage holes, allowing water to flow out more quickly, unlike the Gina Smart Dripper or Clever Dripper, which only have one hole. This design enhances coffee extraction while making it easier to control brewing time, as there’s no need to pour in multiple stages.

That being said, this dripper can still be used for pour-over brewing, just like a V60. Simply open the knob and adjust your brewing variables, water flow, grind size, and coffee characteristics, to match your desired taste.

Another highlight of the Melitta Amano is its elegant design, featuring a sleek black finish with subtle golden accents. This combination gives off a luxurious yet minimalist feel. Unfortunately, the dripper is not yet available on Indonesian e-commerce platforms.

As for the price, it’s quite a premium device, you’ll need to spend around Rp3.000.000 to get your hands on one. That’s even pricier than the Latina grinder, which is widely popular among coffee enthusiasts in Indonesia. In Europe, this dripper is priced at €199.95.
